HEA Meets with ICOF Global University College
By Mr. Birbal Boniface Musoba Corporate Communications Officer
The Higher Education Authority (HEA) today met with ICOF Global University College following the successful registration of the Higher Education Institution (HEI) as a private university college. HEA Director-General, Professor Kazhila C. Chinsembu, received and welcomed ICOF Global University College’s delegation, which was led by the ICOF Colleges, Seminary and Universities Vice President, Dr. Charles Mwape.
ICOF Global University College is the Zambian subsidiary of ICOF Colleges, Seminary and Universities, a network of Christian institutions of learning under the International Coalition of Fellowships (ICOF) based in Washington, DC, in the United States of America. Speaking during the meeting, Professor Chinsembu lauded the newly minted university college for providing opportunities for young people in Zambia as the HEI is currently sponsoring 17,000 students through its partnership with the Government of the Republic of Zambia.
“We all know that we are on the same team as we are trying to advance the interest of higher education,” Professor Chinsembu stated, adding, “You are providing opportunities for a lot of young people (through sponsorships) and we understand that that is important.
The Director-General, however, cautioned that this advancement of the private HEI could only be encouraged within the parameters of the provisions of the Higher Education Act, 2013, as read together with the Higher Education (Amendment) Act, 2024. “It is within that framework (of higher education) that we think that your work is important but at the same time, we want to encourage your work within the prism of the Law and within the parameters of quality assurance,” Professor Chinsembu stated.
Accompanying Dr. Mwape were ICOF Global University College Director of Open and Distance Learning, Mr. Mayaha Richard Munembo, and, ICOF Global University College Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dr. Alvin Chibuno Nchemba.
